REEL Retreat: a pre-college experience for incoming LEAD Scholars: August 18-19, 2009

The purpose of this retreat is to allow LEAD Scholars to build a community, to network with peers prior to classes starting, and to begin enhancing your team building and leadership skills.REEL: Tuesday-Wednesday August 18-19, 2009. Last year the retreat filled up quickly! We will also have a waiting list in the event that participants cancel. The final deadline to respond is July 24, 2009, however you may contact our office after this date to inquire if spaces are still available.

As you can see from the brief outline on the application brochure and pictures of the retreat, it will be a fun and educational opportunity. We look forward to meeting you at orientation this summer and hope that you will be participating in the REEL retreat.

On-Campus Housing Early Move In : Early move for on-campus locations will be available on Monday, August 17th between the hours of 4 PM - 10 PM. There will be an additional $100 charge to move in early and it will be automatically added to your university account. REEL Retreat participants wishing to move-in early must sign-up online on the website below by Monday, July 27th, 2009 by midnight. UCF Affiliated Housing Early Move In : If you are living in UCF Affiliated Housing (Pegasus Pointe or Pegasus Landing) you must sign up for early move-in before July 11, 2009. Please email your first and last name, where you are living, your phone number and your email address to Adrianne Demetry at ademetry@mail.ucf.edu. You will be able to pick up the key to your apartment on Monday, August 17th between the hours of 4 PM - 10 PM at your apartment complex. There will be an additional $125 fee added to your affiliated account.

Female participants : If you choose to participate in the REEL Retreat and sorority recruitment (Monday, August 17-Saturday, August 22), please note that you will miss two event rounds related to the recruitment process that will take place on Tuesday, August 18 and Wednesday, August 19.

The recruitment process consists of four "rounds" where you have the opportunity to meet each sorority chapter. All sororities will receive a list of those LEAD Scholar students participating in the REEL Retreat to inform them of your excused absence prior to the beginning of sorority recruitment. However, all female REEL Retreat students will have the chance to meet representatives from each chapter during the evening of Monday, August 17 at 5pm at a special makeup session for REEL participants in the Student Union, Sand Key Room. However, there is no guarantee that a chapter will invite a woman who does not attend the August 18-19 rounds to subsequent rounds.
